Frequently Asked Questions
Below are a few common questions and answers regarding Lottery Magic.co.uk which you may find useful...
1. Is your site officially connected with any lottery provider?
No. There is a disclaimer at the bottom of every page. Any affiliated links or banner advertisements provided by any lottery organisation are for marketing
purposes only and do not indicate any endorsement of our site.
2. Where do you get your results from?
The official National Lottery site provides feeds of results which we use to update our site. Prize information is taken directly from their results prize pages. For the Health Lottery, results are taken
directly from their results page as they don't provide any kind of feed (we did ask). Of course, you will notice our statistics and draw history contain every result all the way back to 1994. This is a long time before this site started and before complete results were available online. For these historic results we owe a special thanks to
Richard K. Lloyd's
UK National Lottery site where we obtained this data.
3. How often do you update this site?
Although many hours went into the development of Lottery Magic.co.uk, it is designed to run completely autonomously with no human interaction required. The system checks official results sites around the time when draws usually take place. We don't like to hammer these sites with requests, so the latest results will usually appear on this site within 30 minutes of being published on the official site. At this point, all relevant statistics, predictions and so on are also updated.
4. Do you offer any alternative ways to view results aside from the main website?
Yes, we have a lightweight mobile page to allow you to view the latest results on the move. We also post all results to our Twitter account automatically. Links to both these sites are available in the footer of every page.
5. There are many lottery sites already; why make another one?
There are indeed many lottery websites out there online already; some good, some not so good. There are sites that require registration to view statistics and even some that charge to view certain data. We have nothing against those sites but we wanted to make a site
where you could visualise lottery data quickly and easily, without the need to give any personal details or pay. In addition, we wanted to add a prediction element for a bit of fun too.
5. I thought lottery draws were random? Do you really believe you can predict the results?
No! Of course lottery draws are intended to be random; our "predictions" are really just there for a bit of fun and to satisfy our own curiosity. The results of each prediction are logged for all to see,
so you can make your own mind up if they work or not :)
6. Do you have a random number generator?
Yes, you can click the "Randomise" link on any of the lottery result checker pages and then immediately check the past performance of your randomly selected numbers.
7. I have a new mathematical prediction method you could implement - can I send it to you?
Sure, why not. We can't offer any guarantees we will implement it though. Although predictions are automatically updated after every draw, implementing new prediction methods is a manual process.
8. Can I use data from your site on my site / other project?
We don't own the actual results data; you are free to use this how you see fit. However, if you are going to use any of our generated statistics, predictions or graphs, we would ask that you give us
credit by mentioning and linking to our website. All our graphs have our logo embedded in the upper left corner; please don't remove this if reproducing the graph in question as that would be quite poor netiquette :)
